Kimberley Homes & Crave Interiors

We have partnered with Kimberley Homeowner and Founder of Crave Interiors Lita Lee for a series of posts focusing on her beautiful Kimberley Home!

Lita’s story with Kimberley Homes started about four years ago. She met with our Keswick New Home Expert Amie – who was building a new home in Keswick at the time – and was confident that Kimberley was the builder for her and her family. Together with her partner, she purchased a Kimberley “spec home” already under construction The floorplan worked for their family – they have two young boys and two adult children – and Lita knew she could make some small changes to help this home fit their style as well. Ever since then, she has been putting her mark on this Sapphire floorplan, with colour, DIYs, and her trademark bohemian style.

Today we are focusing on the feature wall in her Great Room. There is so much wow factor here! Lita really knows how to use colour and texture in her home, incorporating thrift store finds with classic staples from local and online retailers. Everything looks so cozy, and fits so well within the Sapphire floorplan.

It can be tough to find the “perfect” furniture to fit in your new space, but you can’t go wrong with a cozy couch and classic armchair.

“The Brown sofa had me at hello! Blissfully comfy, I love that I have achieved a Bohemian look with modern eclectic vibe!” 1

When you are buying new furniture, don’t forget to bring a measuring tape with your room dimensions. You don’t want to fall in love with the perfect coffee table only to realize too late that it doesn’t fit in your room!

A question Lita is asked a lot is if she has a specific design concept or overall plan for her spaces. “I don’t have one per se. I go with my gut and that piece I want forever. The pieces I gravitate to are rich in texture and add interest. Most articles are thrifted. If you love it you will always make it work in your home. To me that’s worth it. No matter how much you spend on it.” 2

The Sapphire floorplan has an open concept main floor, meaning the Great Room, Kitchen, and Dining Nook become one large multi-purpose space. Our homeowners love this detail, especially when entertaining. Even better, this makes it easy to spend more time together as a family, with Mom & Dad cooking, and the kids hanging out in the Great Room or doing homework at the Kitchen table.

Lita has done an amazing job creating cohesion between these spaces, while also allowing each room to shine on its own. You’ll have to trust us when we say that the Kitchen and Dining Nook look just as amazing as the Great Room!

Lita’s collection of neutral baskets looks so beautiful against the bright blue of this feature wall. This “gallery wall” look can just as easily be achieved with anything you enjoy collecting. Consider the possibilities!
