Happy Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day is next week! Have you made any plans?! For those of you who forgot (oops!), or who prefer do everything “last minute”, we have compiled a short list of some fun activities for you and your partner, or friends to celebrate. And if you don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, this is a great list for any day of the year!

For hockey fans: The Oilers meet the Phoenix Coyotes at Roger’s Place on February 14. Make a night of it with a trip to the casino next door, or to one of the many locally owned bars and restaurants in the area after the game.

For theatre fans: With a little help from the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Cinderella is playing at the Jubilee Auditorium for three days in February. This Italian opera has been given a modern “haute couture” update, and is full of romance and comedy, a perfect combination to celebrate a holiday of love.

For the foodies: Our Friends at The Pan Tree in Sherwood Park are hosting a few Valentine’s Dinner cooking classes! Learn a few tricks of the trade while you create – and then eat! – a beautiful and delicious meal.

For the outdoorsy types: The spectacular Ice Castles runs at Hawrelak Park until the ice melts. Wander through the breath-taking ice structures, take a ride down the Ice Slide, and get your photo taken on the Ice Thrones. Follow this up with a romantic skate around the lake and enjoy activities at Edmonton’s Silver Skate Festival, which runs from February 10th to 20th.

For our friends in St. Albert: Take part in a paint night with a twist! The Bourbon Room is hosting a Smash Art Paint Night on February 14th, where the only art rule is “there are no rules”!

Flying solo this year? That’s no reason not to have a fun night out with friends! Grab a girlfriend or two and check out Ladies Night Out at Telus World of Science. This month they are showing Fatal Attraction! Grab a glass of wine to go with your favourite movie snacks. Or get a group together and play a few games at one of the many excellent board game cafes around town.

Hopefully this list gets you started on your planning, or gives you some ideas for another date night in the future!
